Summer of 2022

Busy Jan-Mar 2022

lakes entrance fishing charter

Wow, what a season it's been for the Summer of 2022 in Lakes Entrance. Here at Farout Fishing Charters we've been taking you guys out on the water almost every day, hooking some very big snappers, much to everyones delight.

Lakes Entrance has certainly been pumping this year. Visitors arrived earlier than usual in late 2021, and tended to stay right through till the end of January 2022, which saw a great tourism boom for the entire region.

The Gippsland Lakes has been busy, with most of the boat ramps full every day, with all manner of craft coming and going. That's the benefit of taking a Fishing Charter, you don't have to line up at the boat ramp. We have a great spot near the Skate Park, with ample safe parking and we always leave on time. No queues for us.

The bookings for an offshore charter have kept coming in strong from January till March. We've done plenty of trips, with the weather being in our favour. We always find, the weather settles down after January, and it's more like a warm autumn season, with calm crisp mornings and beautiful, blue sky days. Great for being out on the water.

This year saw a lot of gummies coming onboard too, with some great catches from locals and visitors alike. There's nothing like a successful day of fishing, to pack up your catch and take it home.

Be sure to drop us a line if you're thinking of an offshore charter. We're happy to answer all your enquiries over the phone before you make your booking.

Happy fishing, Captain Tony.

Snapper Galore

Snapper & Gummies

lakes entrance fishing charter

Charter Fishing in Lakes Entrance this winter has been great with plenty of Snapper all the way through.

Lakes Entrance is one of the only places in Victoria we can catch these magnificat fish all year round plus many other reef species with a few Gummy Sharks thrown in.

The Weather is warming up and the water temperature is rising so this only means one thing Big Snapper and Gummy Shark are about to come on the chew.

Pinkie Snappers

Sword Fish & Snapper

lakes entrance fishing charter

Fishing Charters Offshore Lakes Entrance have been booming with some great catches.

Lakes Entrance has had a tough ride with Bush fires and then Covid, but the people coming to town over the past couple of months show that the community has our back and to see the Tourism industry, Hotels, Motels, Shops and the town buzzing again is great.

Now we are in May it`s pinkie Snapper time again. These fish turn up in Large numbers and we know where they hang out, so grab some mates and come to Lakes Entrance for a couple of days and we will send you home with a great feed of fish to enjoy with your family.

Sword fish season is also upon us and plenty have been weighed in. Waiting for the right weather conditions is a must when traveling 100km Offshore, and for the first couple of Sword charters I had booked, we gave it a miss because safety is first thing when planing a trip like that.

Looking forward to a great winter here in Lakes Entrance, it's the only place you can catch Snapper in Victoria 12 months of the year.

Cheers Captain Tony Kemna

Trifecta Catch

Snappers all round!

lakes entrance fishing charter

The summer season is approaching rapidly, but Spring hasn't let us down, with a fishing trifecta.

It's always great when everyone on board catches at least one snapper or other species. Everyone's hands are full and they all take home some great memories and some fish for the freezer.

However, it's even better when we get the Trifecta in one trip. A catch of Snapper, Gummy Shark and Flatheads. This crew of fishermen stunned us all as they pulled in a great load of all three varieties.

East Gippsland is a fishing mecca with the Snapper, Gummy Shark and Flat Head season just around the corner, so if your thinking of a fishing charter best get in quick because spots are filling fast.

You can checkout our Farout II vessel with a 370hp turbo charged Volvo penta diesel onboard. She takes us from Lakes Entrance out to the fishing grounds without wasting your time.

For information on the Fishing Charter and what to expect, read our FAQ page here, it's full of all the information you'll need prior to making your booking.

Don't forget the Whales are migrating along the east coast of Australia now. We've had some great sightings. The main whales you will see are the Southern Right Whale, who migrates every year from Antarctica each year.

Another great season is coming to a close, with Summer fast approaching.

Winter and Spring have seen some great catches, as seen in the image above. Snapper have been plentiful off-shore from Lakes Entrance, and the Charters have been very popular with visitors.

Now the warmer weather is approaching it`s not long until the big Snapper and Gummy shark show up and we start fishing the pipeline. This is when it gets really exciting and our clients come back with some very nice specimens.
